Skill Training at CEA
The Employment Services offers two accredited skills training programs:
Start Any Time! We’re Ready When You Are
Whether you are a new or seasoned computer user, this self-tutorial computer career training program will give you the opportunity to understand and create many if today’s widely used business applications.
Software packages include Microsoft Office XP and consist of:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Access
Training is provided in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, and basic and advanced computer knowledge. Special emphasis is placed on individualized learning instruction. Therefore, the length of the program and teaching methods will be tailored to individual needs.
Job preparation addresses work adjustment, job orientation, job seeking skills, and interviewing techniques. Our program has been training and placing clients in the business workforce for over fifteen years.
The Center’s Food Service Training Program prepares individuals for a variety of positions in the food service industry. Individuals with mental, emotional, and physical challenges have successfully used this program to prepare for competitive employment. Individuals are involved in job seeking activities at completion of the program and have found employment in the following areas:
- Food Prep
- Cook
- Server
- Bus Person
- Dishwasher
The Center prepares individuals to function not only in the job market but in their daily lives as well. The program gives individuals a sense of self-worth, the ability to cooperate, and the sense of accomplishment necessary for success.
Opportunities for Hands –on experience is also available in areas of packaging/assembly, retail, building maintenance, and building trades.
